A bridge between two communities.

HELP-Gambia USA Foundation, Inc. is a Minnesota nonprofit corporation that supports the Gambian diaspora in Minnesota and their families and communities in The Gambia. We fund education, direct family assistance, elder and childcare support, livelihoods, and infrastructure — work carried out in the United States directly and in The Gambia through HELP-Gambia, our established implementation partner.

Every application we receive, whether from a stranger or someone connected to our own board, is reviewed against the same standard. That principle shapes every program we run.

Programs

Six ways we put support to work.

Education & School Support

Scholarships, tuition and fee assistance, school supplies, and direct support to schools in Minnesota and The Gambia.

Direct Family Assistance

Housing, health, and emergency support for families facing hardship, reviewed under one consistent eligibility standard.

Grandparent & Elder Childcare

Support for grandparents and elders providing childcare within their own families, recognizing the caregiving they already do.

Livelihoods & Economic Empowerment

Workforce training and small-scale economic support to help families build lasting income.

Water, Sanitation & Infrastructure

Clean water, sanitation, and community infrastructure projects, alongside food security and environmental resilience work.

Minnesota Community Programs

Programs built specifically for the Gambian-American community here in Minnesota, from outreach to community education.

Where we work

Two communities, one purpose.

Minnesota

Headquartered in Brooklyn Park, we run community programs and direct-assistance grants for Gambian-American families across Minnesota, including support for elders and grandparents raising children in their care.

The Gambia

Through HELP-Gambia, our established strategic implementation partner, we fund education, water and sanitation, and family-assistance projects on the ground, while retaining discretion and control over how Foundation funds are used.

How we work

Governance you can check our work against.

Relationship-neutral review

Every application is judged on the same standard, regardless of any connection to our founder, staff, or board.

Transparent governance

Conflict-of-interest, whistleblower, and financial-control policies guide every board and staff decision.

Safeguarding first

Dedicated policies protect children and vulnerable adults across everything we run.
